  • EMA logo

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has set up a new task force together with the heads of the national competent authorities in the European Economic Area (EEA) to deal with the use of big data in medicine.

The objective of the task force is to explore how medicines regulators in the EEA can use big data to support research, innovation and robust medicines development in order to benefit human and animal health.

Over the next 18 months, the task force plans on establishing a roadmap for the development of big data capabilities and recommendations for the use of big data in the assessment of medicines, including recommendations on necessary changes to legislation, regulatory guidelines or data security provisions.
