The STEPS Report on Public Health Research - Europe's Future

SMEs include not-for-profit organisations as well as the commercial sector within the European Commission’s definition. The health field can benefit substantially from innovation through civil society organisations, particularly within public health third pillar of the FP7 Health theme.
The STEPS Report Public Health Research – Europe’s Future describes the contribution of civil society organisations in the 12 EU new member states, and calls for greater funding for public health research across all EU member states, greater engagement with the ministry of health in developing programmes and progress towards a European Public Health Research Area.
