Will EDCTP under its second programme support early clinical development work?

Pre-clinical development cannot be supported by EDCTP. EDCTP only supports phase I to IV clinical trials. The grant that EDCTP provides, in case a proposal is successful, can be used in part to cover the costs associated with manufacturing a product that is necessary to conduct the clinical trial (phase I and beyond), on the condition that accounting conditions for recognising expenditures are met. Under no circumstances can any (manufacturing) cost incurred before the start of the EDCTP-funded project, be counted as cofunding to the project (in case cofunding is requested).
