Fit for Health 2.0 is organising a free of charge full-day international training addressing newcomers to “Horizon 2020”, the new Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Commission. This training day is addressed to companies, research institutes, universities, hospitals and other institutions in the fields of public health, medical technology and red biotechnology.

We are offering a broad overview on Horizon 2020, aspects of participation, especially for SMEs, considerations about finding the appropriate project partners and how to get support

The event provides those not familiar with Horizon 2020 yet with concise and comprehensive information on the opportunities and rules of European research funding. It addresses all those involved in biomedical, clinical and public health research: representatives and researchers from companies, universities, research institutes, hospitals, patient organisations etc. Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an ever bigger role in the Challenge “Health, demographic change and wellbeing” of Horizon 2020: Our training takes this into account and we specifically encourage researchers from SMEs to participate.

Apart from a general introduction to Horizon 2020 and the Challenge “Health, demographic change and wellbeing”, the programme features presentations on funding instruments, consortium composition and how to find project partners. Special attention is paid throughout the event to provide information of particular interest to SMEs. The session is presented by a team of European experts with vast experience in various Framework Programmes of the European Commission.

The upcoming call for proposals for Health research with a budget of 549 million Euros (about 20% to go to SMEs) was officially published in 11 December 2013. If you consider participating in a proposal submission to this call and are not familiar with Horizon 2020 and general principles of EU Health research yet, this is your opportunity and perfect timing to jump on the train!
